Privacy policy

Knightly and trainchess.app are operated by Domenico Di Donna, an independent solo operator and the controller of personal data processed for this service. Contact: support@trainchess.app.
Saved locally
Knightly saves training preferences, completed sessions, XP, activity dates, review schedules and imported positions on your device. In the browser, this uses local browser storage. There is no Knightly account or cloud database.
No automatic device sync
Each browser and device has its own progress. The localhost preview is also separate from trainchess.app. Clearing site data or resetting progress removes the local record; private browsing may discard it when closed.
Chess stays local
Position analysis and coaching run on the device. Imported FEN and PGN content is not uploaded to a training server. The browser uses a smaller practice engine; native builds use Stockfish 17.1.
Website delivery
Cloudflare delivers this website and its files. As the hosting provider, it handles normal request information such as IP addresses and technical connection data. Knightly does not add advertising, a visitor analytics script or a signup form to this website. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Mobile purchases and advertising
Native builds use separate Apple/Google, RevenueCat and AdMob integrations when enabled. Their purchase and advertising information is separate from your local chess progress. This browser version does not initialize those native services.
Support messages
If you email support, the operator receives your email address, your message and any attachments you choose to send. Support correspondence is handled through Google’s email service. Messages are used to answer your request and investigate reported problems. Send only the information needed for that request; avoid passwords, payment details or unrelated personal information.
Store subscriptions
When configured in a native build, Apple or Google and RevenueCat process purchase receipts or tokens, a generated app-user identifier, subscription status and technical app/device information to validate and restore purchases. Knightly does not receive card details. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy, Apple’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.
Native advertising
When enabled, Google AdMob processes information such as IP address, device or advertising identifiers, ad interactions and diagnostics to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and maintain its service. Knightly requests non-personalized ads; these can still involve personal data. Consent choices are requested where required before eligible ads. You can reopen ad privacy choices from the You tab. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information for advertising. This browser version does not load AdMob.
Purposes and legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, processing needed to provide requested training or subscription features is based on performance of the service contract. Website delivery, security and answering support requests rely on the operator’s legitimate interests in running a reliable service. Records required by law are processed to meet legal obligations. Where advertising or device storage requires consent, that processing relies on your consent; you can change that choice through the available privacy controls.
Retention and international processing
Local training data stays on your device until you reset progress, clear app/site data or remove the app, subject to your browser and device backup settings. The operator has no cloud copy of those records. Support correspondence is retained only while needed to resolve and follow up on the request, handle disputes or meet legal obligations. Hosting, store, subscription and advertising providers apply their own retention periods to the data they handle, as described in their linked notices.
Service providers may process information outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Their linked privacy notices describe the countries and safeguards that apply to their services.
Your choices and rights
Use Reset progress or your browser’s site-data controls to remove local training data. Contact support@trainchess.app for privacy questions or requests about data held by the operator or its processors. Under the GDPR, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, object to processing and withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. These rights depend on the circumstances. You may also complain to your local data protection authority, including Italy’s Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
Because there is no training account or server copy of your progress, the operator cannot retrieve or reset the training records held only on your device. This policy will be updated here when the service’s data practices change.
